History of Boston

Rich in history and diverse neighborhoods, Boston is the largest city in the New England region. The name originates from Boston, England, where the first settlers hailed from and established the name in the American city. Bostonians can be easily recognized due to their unique dialect, a way of speaking that has been a staple in the Boston culture for years. The city is also well known for their intellectual reputation. Boston is the home to the “Brainpower Triangle”, an area that spans between Harvard, Tufts and MIT, some of the most renowned and highly ranked universities in the world. It shouldn’t be forgotten that Boston is home to the oldest park in America, the first American lighthouse and “The T” subway line was the first in North America.

Back Bay

The Westin Copley Place is in Back Bay, one of Boston’s 23 neighborhoods. Back Bay is one of the most desirable and wealthiest neighborhoods in Boston since its development in the 1800’s, and has done an excellent job preserving its 19th century ambience. Lined with Victorian style homes, trendy restaurants and quaint shops, Back Bay is a beautiful neighborhood that features notable buildings such as Trinity Church, Boston Public Library and the John Hancock Tower. Back Bay is located on what used to be a tidal bay, until going over a land reclamation project lasting from 1857 until 1882.
